I am a history enthusiast and re-enactor based in the United States. I am a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism (sca.org) and reside in Ohio. (North Oaken Region of the Middle Kingdom)
I have a 10th century Varangian persona and within in my persona I am a first generation voyager. This piece of information may seem very specific and it is. I am traveling in a family unit (Husband and 2 children) who we have given birth to along our journey east. The reason that this is important is that the Varangian clothing and culture were assimilated into and with the surrounding Slavic tribal culture within very few generations and thus the window of my research is very specific.
Our children are who were to become the Rurik dynasty and are where the Kievian Rus have come from with Norse parentage but living all their lives in the East. I am striving to show the extant evidence of how the Norse and Slavic clothing combined to make something unique and special for a specific amount of time (less than 200 years)
